Data Methodology
Data Source
Talkgroup data is sourced from the RadioReference Web Service API (version 3.1). Each agency is matched to trunked radio systems and their associated talkgroups.
Encryption Detection
RadioReference tracks encryption status for each talkgroup using the enc field:
0 = Clear, 1 = Mixed/Partial, 2 = Fully Encrypted.
Verification Process
Agencies are matched to RadioReference data using fuzzy name matching and geographic validation. Verified agencies have a match confidence of 0.7 or higher.
Coverage
Currently 635 of 2,856 known encrypted agencies (22%) have been verified against RadioReference data.
